West Virginia University has announced a substantial addition to its 2026 football roster, bringing in fourteen newcomers who will vie for playing time on the Mountaineers' offensive and defensive lines. Twelve of these players hail from the 2026 signing class, underscoring the program's focus on fresh talent.
The incoming group spans quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, linemen and defensive backs, each listed with their respective heights, weights and jersey numbers. Among them are two transfers, defensive lineman Emerson Joy and safety Tim Roberson, who add depth to the defensive front.
While the roster showcases a breadth of skill sets, the most notable absence is SirPaul Cheeks, a running back who suffered a torn ACL in mid‑October, ending his senior season abruptly. His projected return to football activities is slated for late June or early July.
A Roster in Flux
Coaching staff indicated they remain comfortable with Cheeks' situation, having signed him two months after his injury, and he may still pursue a junior‑college route if his recovery does not progress as hoped. Cheeks chose West Virginia over several other programs, joining a backfield that already includes three other running backs from the recent recruiting class.
The full list of newcomers includes Wyatt Brown, Lawrence Autry, Landon Drumm, Brad Mossor, Jonas Muya, Xavier Anderson, Cam Mallory, Noah Tishendorf, Trey McGlothlin, Simaj Hill, Vincent Smith, Jayden Ballard, Emerson Joy, Tim Roberson, Amari Latimer and Chris Talley, each bringing distinct physical attributes and skill sets to the Mountaineers' lineup.
