Andrew Johnson, a sophomore at the University of Southern California, has been selected for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, marking the first time a Trojan has earned the honor since 2005.
Training Camp Highlights
During the two‑week training camp, Johnson displayed poise on the mound, limiting opponents to just three hits and one run across five innings while striking out five batters and walking none. His 70.4% strike‑rate underscored a high level of control.
The season saw Johnson finish with a 7‑2 record and a 3.23 earned‑run average, fanning 85 batters in 92 innings. In the postseason he posted a 2.18 ERA over 20.2 innings, highlighted by a dominant performance against Texas A&M that earned high praise from head coach Andy Stankiewicz, who called it the best outing he’d witnessed in four years at USC.
Road to Taiwan
The national team will travel to Taiwan to compete in the inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship, a tournament that brings together the best collegiate talent from around the globe.
