The Houston Cougars baseball program is entering a rebuilding phase under head coach Will Davis, who has turned to the transfer portal to replenish a roster that endured its most difficult season in Big 12 competition.
A Fresh Arm Arrives
Senior right‑hander Kade Bing, a Texas native, has officially joined the Cougars after two seasons with the Longhorns, bringing a track record of durability and versatility.
During his collegiate career Bing has alternated between starter and reliever roles, posting a 3.67 career ERA and a 4‑1 record across 18 appearances, while striking out 23 batters in 2025 with a 3.16 ERA in 11 starts.
His most recent stint at McLennan Community College saw him compile a 9‑2 record and a 3.33 ERA, underscoring his ability to handle a heavy workload.
Local Roots, New Goals
Bing, a four‑year letterman at West High School and a two‑time All‑District selection, returns to Texas soil, a factor that coaches say could strengthen community ties and fan engagement.
The Cougars hope his experience will translate into more wins and a quicker ascent back to competitiveness as they aim to reverse the downward trend of the past season.
