Beyond sheer longevity, the staff boasts an impressive résumé: seven World Series championships and fifteen international gold medals punctuate their collective history. Their presence signals a deliberate effort to infuse the upcoming inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship in Taiwan with depth, strategy and a winning mindset.
Mike Scioscia, a senior advisor to the camp, embodies more than five decades of baseball involvement. A former Los Angeles Dodgers player, Scioscia captured World Series titles in 1981 and 1988 before steering the Los Angeles Angels for 19 seasons, culminating in the franchise’s first championship in 2002. Since joining USA Baseball in 2021, he has guided the Professional National Team to Olympic qualification and overseen the bronze‑medal performance of the Premier12 squad in 2024.
Joining him are David Eckstein and Rick Ankiel. Eckstein, a walk‑on at the University of Florida who rose to two All‑Star selections and a World Series MVP with the St. Louis Cardinals, now contributes his scrappy work ethic as an assistant on the Stripes Team. Ankiel, drafted by the Cardinals in 1997 and later transformed from pitcher to outfielder after confronting the yips, brings a rare dual‑lens perspective that enriches his coaching approach.
