The Greater Wyoming Area all-stars edged Greater Pittston Area 12-6 in the District 31 Little League Minor Baseball semifinals, a contest that unfolded at the West Pittston field on Wednesday afternoon.
Early Momentum Shifts
Pittston struck first, plating two runs in the top of the first inning thanks to a timely single by Anthony Cortese that brought in Santino Rynkiewicz and Colston Talerico.
Wyoming Area answered swiftly, turning a 2-0 hole into a 6-2 lead by the end of the opening frame, driven by aggressive baserunning, five walks, a hit batter and timely singles from Tim Carroll and Logan Wolfe.
Offensive Surge and Key Highlights
The momentum continued into the second inning, where Carroll’s two-run single extended the lead to 8-2, and wild pitches added two more runs, pushing the score to 10-2.
Logan Wolfe, who started on the mound, limited Pittston to just two hits after the first inning, including a solo homer by Rynkiewicz, while his overall performance earned commendation from manager Eric Speicher.
A highlight reel moment came in the third inning when Aiden Felker made a diving catch that sparked the crowd and shifted the game’s energy.
The offensive onslaught peaked in the sixth inning when Rynkiewicz launched a three-run homer, capping a 10-run surge and sealing a 12-6 victory.

With the win, Wyoming Area will meet Back Mountain in the championship game scheduled for 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at the same West Pittston field. Manager Eric Speicher praised Wolfe’s workhorse role and the collective effort, noting that the team’s resilience will be crucial heading into the final.
