Ty Kolly, the standout shortstop from Inland Lakes, has been crowned the Daily Tribune's 2026 area baseball player of the year, a testament to his dual-threat brilliance on the diamond.
Kolly's impact stretched beyond the scoreboard; he led the team to three district titles and two Ski Valley Conference championships, while batting a team‑best .436 as a leadoff hitter, driving in 25 runs and scoring 40 times.
A Season Defined by Versatility
Coach Josh Vieau, who has watched Kolly evolve over the seasons, describes him as one of the best leaders he has ever coached and hopes to bring the player onto his future staff, citing Kolly's ability to relate to teammates.
Off the field, Kolly will trade the familiar confines of Inland Lakes for the halls of Michigan State University, where he plans to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering, a path he says will let him blend his love of strategy with technical curiosity.
The bonds he forged with teammates such as Cash DePauw, Wyatt Hanel and Andre Bradford have left an indelible mark, shaping not only his high school memories but also the direction of his next chapter.
