Iowa Secures Commitment from Top 2028 Center Logan Chwastyk

Five-star recruit chooses the Hawkeyes over a slate of powerhouse programs

Iowa’s basketball program announced Tuesday that it has extended a scholarship offer to Logan Chwastyk, a 6-foot-10 center from Malvern, Pennsylvania, who is rated as one of the nation’s most coveted prospects in the class of 2028.

A Recruiting Coup for the Hawkeyes

The announcement follows a series of impressive performances that have placed Chwastyk at the top of recruiting rankings, including a five-star designation in the 247Sports composite and a No. 13 overall spot nationally.

According to the same rankings, he is listed as the seventh best center in the country, while Rivals places him at No. 18 overall and sixth among centers.

As a sophomore at his high school, Chwastyk posted averages of 16.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.8 blocks per game, numbers that have only grown more impressive on the Nike EYBL circuit with Team Final.

His travel-basketball résumé includes a spring in which he tallied 12 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks, further cementing his reputation as a defensive anchor and interior scorer.

The Hawkeyes now join a list of elite programs — Florida State, Stanford, Indiana, Notre Dame, Penn State, Villanova and Syracuse — that have also courted the young talent, making his decision a focal point for recruiters across the nation.

Coach Ben McCollum, who has been leading Iowa’s recruiting efforts, is expected to integrate Chwastyk into a frontcourt that aims to build around a dominant center, a move that could reshape the team’s competitive outlook in the coming seasons.
