Syracuse University’s women’s ice hockey program celebrated a notable academic achievement as ten of its student-athletes earned spots on the American Hockey Coaches Association’s All-American Scholars list.
Scholar-Athlete Standards
To be eligible, each player must maintain a minimum 3.75 grade point average across both semesters and have participated in at least 40 percent of the team’s games during the season. The AHCA extends exceptions to those sidelined by injury or serving as backup goalies, ensuring that health setbacks do not automatically disqualify deserving students.
The honorees span the roster’s spectrum, from freshmen Emma Gnade and Rachel Walsh to seniors Maya D'Arcy, Charlotte Hallett, Heidi Knoll and Maïka Paquin, with sophomores Peyton Armstrong and Jessica Cheung and juniors Nea Tervonen and Mik Todd also making the cut.
A Select Group
Syracuse’s ten scholars represent a significant portion of the conference’s recognitions, trailing only the programs at Mercyhurst University and Robert Morris University, which posted higher totals this year.
All of the recognized institutions are members of the American Hockey Coaches Association, underscoring the league’s commitment to balancing competitive play with scholarly excellence.
