University of Maine Men’s Ice Hockey Team Leads Hockey East All-Academic Honors

Twenty-three players earn academic accolades, with four achieving Distinguished Scholar status

The Hockey East conference recently announced its 2025-26 All-Academic Team, and the University of Maine contributed a league-leading 23 skaters who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

A Culture of Excellence

Among them, Thomas Freel and Jeremy Langlois earned spots on the All-Star subset of the team, which recognizes the highest academic performers at each position, and Freel’s selection marks his fourth straight year on the honor roll.

Grayson Arnott, Brandon Holt and Freel also received Distinguished Scholar designation, a distinction reserved for those who qualify for the All-Academic team in all four of their varsity seasons.

The achievement underscores the program’s dual commitment to competitive success and academic rigor, reflecting the university’s broader mission to develop well-rounded leaders.

With the academic year underway, the team looks to translate its scholarly momentum into on-ice performance as the season progresses.
