A New Chapter for the Huskies
UConn’s men’s basketball team has announced the addition of Egor Amosov, a 6‑7 Russian forward, to its 2026‑27 roster, a move that underscores the program’s expanding global reach.
The 19‑year‑old, who spent the previous season with Real Madrid’s Liga U side, arrives after a standout year that saw him help the Spanish club capture the inaugural Liga U championship and earn Player of the Year honors.
Head coach Dan Hurley praised the newcomer, describing Amosov as an “exciting prospect” whose versatility at the forward position should bolster the Huskies’ depth and defensive intensity.
Amosov’s résumé includes three seasons with BC Samara in the VTB United League, where he logged over 40 appearances for both the senior squad and its developmental affiliate, Samara 2, while averaging double‑digit points and contributing significantly in rebounds, assists and steals.
Having debuted with Real Madrid’s senior LIGA ACB team in January 2026, the Russian forward brings top‑level experience to a roster that will feature 15 players, ten of whom are newcomers, setting the stage for a potentially transformative season.
The Huskies’ fan base can look forward to watching a player who has already tasted championship success at the senior level, as well as a trajectory that began in the youth circuits of Russia and now heads to the heart of American college basketball.
