Richmond Spiders Unveil Ambitious 2026‑27 Non‑Conference Slate

Thirteen games against rivals, power‑conference foes and neutral‑site showcases set the stage for a fresh Atlantic 10 campaign

The University of Richmond’s men’s basketball program has released its non‑conference schedule for the 2026‑27 season, a 13‑game slate that blends home‑court showdowns, long‑distance road trips and high‑profile neutral‑site events.

A Calendar of Tests

The season opens on November 2 at the Robins Center, where the Spiders will host UNC Asheville before a short stretch of home games that includes matchups against Bethune‑Cookman and VMI later in November.

Four true road contests are scattered across the calendar, beginning with a visit to Southern Illinois on November 12 and continuing with a trip to Blacksburg to face Virginia Tech on November 16, the program’s first regular‑season meeting with the Hokies since 2009.

Neutral‑site highlights include a November 8 showdown at The Palestra in Philadelphia against Temple and participation in the Greenbrier Tip‑Off in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, where Richmond will play two games on November 20 and 22.

The schedule also features a series of December road games at East Carolina and Old Dominion, followed by a stretch of three consecutive home contests to close out the non‑conference portion, giving the team a chance to fine‑tune before stepping into Atlantic 10 play.

Coach Chris Mooney emphasized that the slate is designed to test the team, build depth and prepare the Spiders for the rigors of a competitive Atlantic 10 season, while also leaving room for an additional game under recent NCAA guidance.

Fans can look forward to a varied slate that pits the program against in‑state rivals, power‑conference opponents and elite neutral‑site tournaments, all while the team aims to carry the momentum built over recent seasons into the new year.
