Florida State’s basketball program is entering a critical phase of its recruiting strategy, with head coach Luke Loucks leveraging the momentum of a strong 2026 class to chase elite talent for the 2027 cycle.
A Recruiting Crossroads
The effort hit a notable obstacle when four‑star point guard Kevin Savage, ranked No. 41 overall and No. 13 among point guards by Rivals, announced his commitment to Purdue, passing up the Seminoles and several other suitors.
Savage, a native of Marietta, Georgia, brings a blend of speed, defensive intensity and playmaking that compensates for his 5‑foot‑11 stature, often orchestrating passes that find teammates cutting to the rim or spotting up beyond the arc.
While the Seminoles celebrated the No. 16 national ranking of last year’s recruiting haul, they remain without a verbal pledge for the 2027 class as the summer recruiting circuit intensifies.
Coach Loucks and his staff continue to engage with other high‑profile prospects, hoping that the early interest will translate into future commitments despite the early loss.
