A Season of Firsts and Familiar Foes
The 2026 Tarleton State Texans open their home slate on August 29 at 8 p.m., hosting Prairie View A&M in a nationally televised showdown on ESPN 2. The night will be marked by a Purple Out at Memorial Stadium, setting a vibrant tone for the season.
Following that kickoff, the team will play five more home contests at 6 p.m., beginning September 19 against Merrimack for Family Weekend, then on September 26 the Texans enjoy an open week before returning on October 3 for the Legends Game versus Chicago State, the latter’s inaugural football season.
October 17 brings Homecoming against Central Arkansas, a matchup the Texans have dominated with a 4‑0 record, while October 31 features a Halloween clash with Eastern Kentucky that doubles as Military Appreciation. The regular‑season home finale arrives November 7 against Abilene Christian, the team’s fiercest rival and the opponent with whom they shared the 2025 UAC championship after both finished 7‑1 in conference play.
