Former Michigan offensive analyst Josh Sinagoga joins Tennessee staff as defensive analyst

Sinagoga’s offensive background adds a new dimension to the Vols’ defense under coach Josh Heupel

A strategic addition to the Vols' coaching staff

Josh Sinagoga, who spent several years shaping Michigan’s offense as an analyst, has taken a new role at the University of Tennessee, where he will now focus on defensive strategy.

The Vols’ coaching staff announced the appointment on Tuesday, highlighting how Sinagoga’s deep understanding of offensive schemes will be leveraged to help the defense anticipate and counter opposing attacks.

Before arriving in Knoxville, Sinagoga served as associate director of advancement and associate head football coach at Warren (Mich.) De La Salle High School, where he also worked closely with quarterbacks and helped develop game plans.

Head coach Josh Heupel praised the hire, noting that Sinagoga’s experience on the offensive side of the ball provides a unique perspective that can translate into valuable insights for the defensive unit.

The move comes as Tennessee looks to strengthen a defense that has shown flashes of brilliance but still seeks consistency against high‑powered SEC offenses.
