The Columbus Blue Jackets have secured a two-year, two-way agreement with defenseman Colton White, keeping him under contract through the 2027-28 season.
General manager Don Waddell praised White’s work ethic, positional discipline and ability to move the puck, noting that his experience will bolster the team’s defensive core.
White, 29, arrives after six NHL seasons split between the New Jersey Devils and Anaheim Ducks, where he logged 14 assists, 24 penalty minutes and a solid plus-minus rating.
Across 107 NHL games he has added 68 shots on goal and 73 blocked shots, while his 24 penalty minutes reflect a physical style that complements his positional soundness.
In the American Hockey League, White has been equally productive, posting 21 goals, 77 assists and 98 points in 345 games for the Utica Comets, San Diego Gulls and Binghamton Devils.
A Versatile Blueliner
White’s combination of offensive upside and defensive responsibility makes him a flexible option for coach Mike Babcock, who can deploy him in various situations.
The signing underscores the Blue Jackets’ strategy of blending youthful talent with veteran reliability as they aim for a deeper playoff push.
