A Promising Start to the 2026 Season
Senior punter Palmer Williams has already cemented his reputation as one of the nation’s most reliable legs. After a 2025 campaign in which he led the country in net punting with an average of 45.0 yards, he earned multiple All-America recognitions, including a Ray Guy Award finalist nod, and was voted Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year by the league’s head coaches.
The 2026 slate opens on September 5 in Atlanta, where Baylor will meet Auburn at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and then returns to Waco for a three-game homestand against Prairie View A&M, Louisiana Tech and Colorado, giving the Bears a blend of high-profile road and home contests.
Milestones on the Horizon
Williams finishes his collegiate career with 107 punts for 4,981 yards, averaging 46.55 yards per kick. He is tied for seventh in Baylor history with 39 career 50-plus-yard boots and needs just ten more long kicks to move into second place all-time, a milestone that would further underline his impact on the program.
