Cam Cook, the senior running back for West Virginia, has been selected to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team, a recognition that reflects his standout performance in the previous season.
During the 2025 campaign he amassed 1,659 rushing yards, the most in the Football Bowl Subdivision, and added 1,142 yards after contact while forcing more than 100 missed tackles.
Cook's career trajectory includes stints at TCU and Jacksonville State, where he quickly rose to prominence and earned the Conference USA Athlete of the Year award.
A New Era for the Mountaineers' Ground Game
With Jahiem White now playing at North Texas for coach Neal Brown, Cook is expected to serve as West Virginia's featured back in 2026, carrying the workload that previously belonged to his predecessor.
Coach Rich Rodriguez, who has a history of developing elite rushers, believes Cook can continue the program's tradition of producing top‑tier running backs.
The preseason honors also spotlight other conference standouts, including BYU's LJ Martin, named Offensive Player of the Year, Texas Tech's AJ Holmes as Defensive Player of the Year, and Oklahoma State's Drew Mestemaker as Newcomer of the Year.
