Former Michigan State kicker Tarik Ahmetbasic has found a new home on the roster of the University of Memphis, completing a move that was finalized through the NCAA transfer portal.
A native of Clinton Township, Michigan, Ahmetbasic saw his sophomore season cut short by a lingering injury that kept him out of game action, limiting his on‑field experience to a single appearance for the Spartans.
Despite the setback, he still retains two years of athletic eligibility, giving him a chance to rebuild his career at the next level.
He officially entered the portal in January and, after a period of evaluation during the spring semester, secured a spot with the Tigers, who are looking to bolster their special‑teams unit.
Reviving a Leg That Once Promised Big Things
The program hopes his experience and work ethic will translate into reliable kicking performance, adding depth to a unit that has been searching for consistency.
With the transition complete, Ahmetbasic will join a Memphis squad that is aiming to climb higher in the American Athletic Conference standings, and his presence brings a new layer of competition to the backfield.
