More than 500 young baseball players will descend on Port Angeles this week to compete in the Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth state championship tournaments, a showcase that brings together 47 teams and over 100 games across three distinct ballparks.
The competition will unfold from Thursday through Saturday, with opening ceremonies scheduled for Wednesday evening, setting the stage for a weekend of fierce play and community celebration.
Local Teams and Venue Breakdown
Five regional squads, among them the 14U Wilder team and several North Olympic squads, will represent the area, each assigned to a specific venue. The 14U Wilder team is slated to contest the Babe Ruth state championship at Volunteer Field, while the North Olympic 12U/70 squad will battle at Lincoln Park, where elimination games kick off on Saturday and culminate in an afternoon championship match.
Similarly, the North Olympic 11U and 10U teams will also call Lincoln Park their battleground, with their elimination rounds beginning Saturday morning and the championship games following in the afternoon and late afternoon respectively. The youngest cohort, the North Olympic 9U, will take the field at the Elwha Billy Whiteshoes Memorial Park, where Saturday morning sees the start of its elimination schedule.

Organizers from North Olympic Baseball and Softball are calling on volunteers to fill essential roles in concessions, pitch counting, and scorekeeping.
