A New Era for Women’s Hockey in Buffalo
At the historic Fox Theatre in Detroit, the Professional Women’s Hockey draft turned a long‑held aspiration into reality for two Buffalo natives, Tory Mariano and Lara Beecher, who heard their names called amid a crowd of hopefuls.
Mariano described the moment as surreal, a dream that felt both distant and immediate as the announcer highlighted her selection, underscoring the significance of the occasion for her and her hometown.
