Underground Atlanta, a historic hub beneath the city’s streets, is buzzing with renewed energy as the 2026 FIFA World Cup draws global attention to the region.
The district, owned by entrepreneur Shaneel Lalani and operated through Lalani Ventures, is hosting a two‑day Argentine Fan Festival that coincides with the tournament’s Round of 16 match between Argentina and Egypt.
A Celebration of Argentine Culture
Starting at noon today, the festival offers free entry until the outdoor venue reaches capacity, inviting fans to enjoy live performances, a curated fan walk, and a lineup of South American cuisine.
The fan walk kicks off at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, guiding participants through the district’s renovated corridors while large outdoor screens broadcast the Argentina‑Egypt showdown at noon.
Following the match, the celebration continues with music from Argentine band La T y La M and sets by Los Palmeras and UN POCO DE RUIDO, blending soccer excitement with cultural rhythm.
Since the pandemic, Underground Atlanta has undergone a physical and commercial revival, adding new retail concepts and attractions that have drawn more than 1.5 million visitors in the past year.
The Invest Atlanta Board recently approved a $925,000 grant aimed at upgrading public infrastructure and supporting small‑business owners, a boost that Lalani says will cement the district’s role as a cultural gateway.
City officials expect the festival and the World Cup matches to further accelerate foot traffic, reinforcing Atlanta’s reputation as a vibrant host for international sporting and cultural events.
