The Cheboygan Daily Tribune has released its 2026 all-area baseball team, recognizing the top performers from a competitive season across the region.
Player of the Year: Ty Kolly
Ty Kolly, a senior from Inland Lakes, was named the Daily Tribune's 2026 high school baseball player of the year after batting .436 with 41 hits, 25 RBIs, 40 runs scored and 23 walks.
Pitching Powerhouses
On the mound, Cash DePauw of Inland Lakes posted a 7-1 record with a 2.283 ERA and 80 strikeouts, while Braylon Currie from Mackinaw City went 8-3 with the same 80 strikeouts, cementing his status as the all-time winningest pitcher.
Junior Gus Carper also from Inland Lakes contributed a .427 average with 23 RBIs and 37 runs scored, and James Layman added a .366 average with 20 RBIs and 29 runs scored.
Other notable hitters included Brett Bonter of Pellston, who batted .283 with 12 RBIs and 27 runs, Wyatt Hanel of Inland Lakes at .403 with 20 RBIs and 25 runs, and Nolan Schley of Cheboygan at .292 with 12 RBIs and 18 runs.
Brody George of Onaway hit .432 with 23 RBIs and 32 runs, while Josh Ferraiuolo from NMCA posted a staggering .660 average with 20 RBIs and 36 runs, and Collin Maves of Inland Lakes recorded a 2.692 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 39 innings.
Additional Honors and Performances
Jeremiah Tucker of NMCA hit .491 with 21 RBIs and 20 runs, Tyler Hingston of Mackinaw City became the all-time leader in runs scored, and Knox Wilson of Mackinaw City emerged as one of the area’s best hitters and a solid No. 2 pitcher.
Zach Schmoldt of Onaway batted .295 with 16 RBIs and 19 runs, Ben Strittmatter of Mackinaw City earned NLC second team accolades, Andre Bradford of Inland Lakes hit .264 with 29 RBIs and 27 runs, Kyle Valot of Mackinaw City contributed solid outfield play, Casey Kindt of Onaway posted a .352 average with 19 RBIs and 29 runs, and Eli LaLonde of Onaway finished among the top offensive performers with a .306 average, 25 RBIs and 16 runs.
The full roster highlights a deep pool of talent across Cheboygan, Inland Lakes, Mackinaw City, Onaway, Pellston and NMCA, underscoring the region’s growing baseball pedigree.
