David Kampf, a former Toronto Maple Leafs forward, has officially left the NHL and signed a multi‑year deal with Litvínov, the Czech top‑flight club.
The move comes after a contract termination that followed his waiver and refusal to report to the AHL, ending a four‑season tenure with Toronto that began with a two‑year, $3 million agreement in 2021 and a subsequent four‑year, $9.6 million extension.
Kampf, who debuted in the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2017‑18 season, accumulated 50 goals and 99 assists for 149 points in 576 career games, and later added a one‑year, $1.1 million contract with the Vancouver Canucks before his departure.
In a candid Instagram post, he thanked the Maple Leafs and the city of Toronto, expressing that he was looking forward to rediscovering enjoyment on the ice closer to home and reuniting with childhood friends, the Kaš brothers.
A Return to Roots
Litvínov’s chairman, Jiří Šlégr, welcomed the signing, highlighting Kampf’s experience and leadership as valuable assets for a team aiming to contend for the championship.
The signing is being viewed as a boost for the Czech league, which has seen several former NHL players return to pursue new challenges and contribute to the development of local talent.
