At halftime the Broncos had surged ahead 34‑17, with Hampden’s defense dictating the pace, but the tide began to shift after a halftime pep talk from coach Bill Goodman.
Goodman urged his squad to keep fighting, a message that resonated as the second half unfolded and the defense tightened, cutting the deficit to nine points by the end of the third quarter.
Freshman forward Kristin King, who finished with 24 points, sparked the rally, while senior Kylie Lamson added 21 and delivered the clutch shot that forced overtime.
In the extra period King drove for a runner that broke a 58‑58 tie and then sank two free throws to lock in the win, a moment that left the bench erupting.
