Louisville Basketball Heads to the Bahamas
The University of Louisville men’s basketball squad is set to travel to the Bahamas for a pair of exhibition contests that form part of the 2026 Baha Mar Hoops Summer League. The games are slated for July 28 and 29, when the Cardinals will face off against select teams from the Bahamian capital.
Head coach Pat Kelsey has framed the trip as more than a vacation; he sees the matches and the surrounding practices as a crucial stepping stone before the regular season begins. “These extra reps give us a chance to build chemistry and get the new pieces clicking,” Kelsey said in a recent interview.
The upcoming contests will showcase a roster that has been reshaped by a wave of transfers and freshmen. Fans will finally get a glimpse of how the new pieces fit together, offering an early look at the team’s potential.
A Glimpse of the New Roster
Among the newcomers are transfers such as Flory Bidunga, Jackson Shelstad, Karter Knox, Álvaro Folgueiras, Adrian Wooley, London Johnson, Obinna Ekezie Jr., Boyuan Zhand and Isaac Ellis. Each brings a different skill set, from perimeter shooting to interior presence, adding depth to the Cardinals’ lineup.
The blend of experience and youthful energy promises an exciting brand of basketball, and the exhibition games will serve as a laboratory where Coach Kelsey can experiment with lineups and strategies.
