A New Chapter for the Roadunners
The Tucson Roadrunners have announced the addition of 24‑year‑old goaltender Jesper Vikman on a one‑year AHL contract, a move that bolsters the team’s defensive depth ahead of the upcoming season.
Vikman arrives after a season split between the Henderson Silver Knights and the South Carolina Stingrays, where he posted an 8‑7‑3 record with a 3.41 goals‑against average and a .866 save percentage across 18 appearances for Henderson.
Vikman's Path to the AHL
During that stretch he set personal bests in minutes played and wins, underscoring his growth since his debut in the AHL four years ago.
Over parts of four seasons with Henderson, Vikman has compiled a 16‑18‑5 record, a 3.48 GAA and a .880 save percentage, including a shutout in 41 career games, while also logging over 1,000 minutes of professional ice time.
His ECHL résumé is equally impressive; in the 2024‑25 regular season he recorded a career‑high 24 wins and set league marks for games played and victories, complementing a 31‑23‑2 record with a 3.13 GAA and .897 save percentage over three seasons.
Before turning professional, Vikman honed his skills in the WHL with the Vancouver Giants and earned a fifth‑round selection by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2020 NHL Draft, a pathway that has now led him to the Roadrunners’ crease.
