The Northwest High School football program is poised to kick off its 2026 campaign on August 21, marking the start of a fresh chapter after a 6‑5 finish a year ago.
Coached by a staff that has kept the playbook aggressive, the team enters the new season with a clear focus on building momentum and defending its spot in Division IV, Region 13 of the Ohio postseason.
A demanding slate of opponents
Northwest will test itself against a who’s‑who of local powerhouses, traveling to face Alliance, Marlington, Central Catholic, Triway, Canton South, Coventry, Orrville, Tuslaw, Fairless and Manchester throughout the regular season. Each matchup promises a different tactical challenge, from the high‑octane offense of Central Catholic to the disciplined defense of Marlington.
All regular‑season games are slated to begin at 7 p.m. local time, unless a venue decides to shift the kickoff for broadcasting or weather considerations.
The excitement doesn’t end with the regular schedule. The Ohio High School Athletic Association’s state playoffs are set to commence on October 30, with the championship games scheduled for early December at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. A deep run there would put the team on a national stage and add another layer of anticipation to the season.
Fans and community members alike are already marking their calendars, eager to see how the team’s chemistry develops on the field and whether the early‑season momentum can translate into a postseason push.
