Baseball Advances to Substate Semifinals
The PCM baseball squad opened its substate tournament with a decisive 6‑1 victory over Woodward‑Granger, a performance that propelled the team into the semifinals against Van Meter. Roston McCarty anchored the pitching staff, delivering 6 ⅔ innings that yielded just four hits and one earned run while striking out seven batters.
Jaden Houser contributed a timely bat, finishing with two hits and an RBI, while Coby DeRaad, Shay Burns and McCarty each added a hit and an RBI to the offensive tally. Relief work was sealed by Jensson Hood, who tossed the final third of an inning without allowing a run and recorded a strikeout.
The win underscores a balanced attack and a resilient pitching rotation, setting a confident tone as the team prepares for the next challenge. Coach and teammates alike praised the collective effort that turned a tight contest into a comfortable margin.
Softball Dominates Urbandale
The #5‑ranked PCM softball team completed its regular season in dominant fashion, routing Urbandale 9‑0 in five innings. Camden Webb delivered a strong outing on the mound, scattering four hits over four innings while striking out three, and Libby Winters added a shutout frame with one hit allowed and a strikeout of her own.
At the plate, Libby Winters was a standout, going 3‑for‑4 with three RBIs, and Lilian Knapp contributed a 2‑for‑4 effort with two RBIs. Additional hits from Lilian Humpal and Kyra Naeve rounded out a balanced offensive display.
Finishing the regular schedule at 23‑4, the softball team now turns its attention to the regional opener against Southeast Valley, eager to translate its late‑season momentum into a deep playoff run.
Both the baseball and softball programs are poised for postseason action, carrying the momentum of recent victories into the next round of competition.
