Indianola delivered a commanding 14-0 victory over Knoxville on Friday, closing the regular season with a flawless display of pitching and hitting.
A dominant performance
Right-hander Jackson Foust anchored the Indians’ rotation, throwing four solid innings that yielded only three hits while striking out six batters. His efficiency set the tone for a game in which the offense never looked back.
At the plate, Daxton Heimbaugh went 3-for-3, driving in three runs, while Bryant Ritchie added two hits and two RBI to push the lead past double digits. The lineup’s precision complemented Foust’s mound work, turning the contest into a rout.
Knoxville’s early miscues proved costly. The team surrendered several free bases in the second inning, a lapse that Coach Turner Devore later highlighted as a key factor in the early scoring burst. Jace Kading took the loss after surrendering two runs in two innings of work.
With the win, Indianola finished the regular season at 30-4, while Knoxville slipped to 21-8. Both squads now turn their attention to substate play: Indianola will host Des Moines North in a Class 4A opening-round matchup, whereas Knoxville prepares to welcome Oskaloosa on Friday in a Class 3A first-round contest.
