Coach Craig Mason, together with his coaching staff, hosted the fourth edition of the Bill Stewart Memorial Football Camp at the Magnolia football complex, drawing roughly forty youths from second through eighth grade.
A Two‑Day Immersion in Fundamentals
Over two consecutive days the camp blended offensive drills on the first day with defensive work on the second, each session kicking off with an agility obstacle course and a tug‑of‑war to build confidence and endurance.
Coaches emphasized proper tackling technique, teaching participants how to protect both themselves and their opponents while reinforcing the fundamentals of defense.
Flag‑football scrimmages followed, allowing the youngsters to experience positional responsibilities and the value of teamwork in a game setting.
The final day culminated with a 40‑yard dash timed by a laser system, a moment that sparked excitement as each age group crowned its fastest runner.
Nate Cross took the top spot in the second‑grade division, Jesse Wilt won among third‑graders, Grayson Sapp led the fourth‑graders, Lincoln Preston topped the fifth‑grade field, Kyle Mason claimed victory in sixth grade, Chance Smith in seventh grade, and Karson Davis in eighth grade.
Beyond showcasing raw speed, the camp gave the participants a clearer grasp of the sport’s basics and offered coaches a preview of talent that could shape future teams.
