A Season to Remember
The Cape Elizabeth girls soccer team completed an unbeaten 18‑0 campaign, capping the year with a Class B state title and the distinction of being named the 2025‑26 Varsity Maine Girls Team of the Year.
At the heart of the historic run was senior forward Noelle Mallory, who netted 31 goals and added 24 assists, earning Player of the Year honors and sharing the spotlight with her sister, Alexa Mallory, who also contributed significantly on the attack.
The squad lit up the scoreboard with 89 goals while limiting opponents to just seven, scoring at least two goals in every game and delivering four‑plus tallies on 13 occasions.
Playoffs and a Redemption Arc
The team navigated a challenging playoff bracket, overcoming Freeport in overtime thanks to Mallory’s decisive strike, and then turned the tables on Hermon, a previously unbeaten side, by a 3‑0 margin in the state final.
Coach Branden Noltkamper praised the squad’s composure during the overtime victory, noting how the players remained calm under pressure as they chased a championship that had eluded them in the two preceding regional finals.
Defensively, the back line featuring Haisel McGeachey, Maisie Rayback, Kate Hetrick, Chloe Durkin, Finley DiGiovanni and Alice DeGeorge proved relentless, earning five all‑Western Maine Conference selections including Law, Gorman, Noelle Mallory, Alexa Mallory and McGeachey.
Beyond the numbers, the season will be remembered for its camaraderie, the community’s support, and the promise of a new generation of talent ready to build on this historic foundation.
