Former NBA forward Jason Thompson is once again opening the doors of his JT Elite Basketball Camp to the next generation of players, marking the program’s 16th summer of skill development and personal growth.
The camp will run from August 10 through August 14 at the RiverWinds Community Center in West Deptford, New Jersey, where participants will receive intensive instruction, mentorship, and a performance and recovery program designed to sharpen both body and mind.
Special guest appearances are set to include members of the Philadelphia 76ers Dunk Team and the Squad 76 dance squad, adding a splash of professional flair to the week‑long sessions. Each camper will also enjoy daily meals, an official camp T‑shirt, school supplies, and a chance to compete for a variety of prizes.
Beyond basketball fundamentals, the program emphasizes confidence building, healthy lifestyle choices, and educational advancement, reflecting Thompson’s long‑standing commitment to youth development in the region.
A Coach’s Journey from Court to Community
Thompson’s own journey — from a standout collegiate career at Rider University to an eight‑year NBA stint with the Sacramento Kings, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors — has been followed by a transition into coaching, including stints as an assistant at Rider and with the Capital City Go‑Go.
Now focused on community outreach, Thompson says the camp is about more than basketball; it’s about providing tools that help youngsters succeed on and off the court.
