A Season of Academic and Athletic Excellence
The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced its tenth annual All‑American Scholars list, honoring 550 male student‑athletes across the nation. To earn a spot, each player had to maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75 throughout both semesters while also contributing in at least 40 percent of their team’s games during the season.
Alvernia’s men’s ice hockey program celebrated a particularly strong showing, with thirteen members of the roster making the distinguished list. Their achievements reflect the university’s commitment to developing student‑athletes who excel both in the classroom and on the rink.
Spotlight on the Scholars
The honored players span a variety of academic disciplines, from Criminal Justice and Finance to Engineering and Sports Management. Their diverse majors illustrate the broad range of interests and career aspirations within the team.
Among the scholars, sophomore forward Joey Arnold, majoring in Criminal Justice, joins freshman forward Charles Becnel, a Finance major, and freshman forward Keegan Driscoll, studying Engineering. Each brings a unique blend of athletic contribution and scholarly focus to the program.
Other notable honorees include junior goaltender Jacob Stern, who pursues a degree in Finance, and senior forward Vincent Servizzi, completing a Sports Management degree. Their collective performance underscores the team’s depth and resilience throughout the 2025‑2026 campaign.
Alvernia University’s Athletic Department and the Office of Academic Affairs praised the scholars for embodying the institution’s core values of integrity, perseverance, and lifelong learning. The recognition adds to a growing legacy of student‑athletes who achieve national acclaim for their dual commitments.
