Kansas State’s men’s basketball program has secured a commitment from four-star wing Kameron Cooper for the 2027 recruiting class, a move that bolsters the Wildcats’ front‑court outlook for the coming years.
Cooper, a 6‑foot‑4 standout at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, announced his decision on Tuesday, selecting the Wildcats over offers from TCU, UNLV, Wichita State and Xavier.
Ranked among the elite prospects in his grade, Cooper is celebrated for his athleticism, perimeter scoring ability and defensive upside, traits that coaches expect to translate quickly to the collegiate game.
A family connection
The commitment carries a personal dimension, as Cooper’s father, John Cooper, will join the Wildcats staff as an assistant coach. John Cooper previously built coaching experience at Tennessee State, Miami (Ohio), Oklahoma State and UNLV, bringing a wealth of regional knowledge to the program.
His addition underscores Kansas State’s strategy of leveraging relationships within the state and broader region to assemble a competitive roster, a plan that has been a focal point of the program’s recent recruiting efforts.
The signing marks a notable milestone for the Wildcats, who continue to strengthen their recruiting class with talent that could have an immediate impact on the team’s performance in the upcoming seasons.
