Jordan DeKort Takes on New Role with Nashville Predators
Jordan DeKort, a former director of goaltending and video coach for the Kitchener Rangers, has accepted a position as Professional Development Goaltending Coach with the Nashville Predators. In this capacity he will oversee goaltending development across the Predators' network, including the American Hockey League affiliate Milwaukee Admirals and the ECHL club Atlanta Gladiators.
DeKort's tenure with the Rangers was marked by a championship in the Memorial Cup in 2023, the first title in the franchise's modern era. His work with the goaltending department was credited with elevating the performance of several young net‑minders, among them prospects Christian Kirsch, Jackson Parsons and Jason Schaubel.
General manager Mike McKenzie praised DeKort's contributions, stating that his blend of on‑ice coaching and video analysis had left a lasting imprint on the organization. "Jordan's impact on our goaltending program was profound," McKenzie said in a statement released on Tuesday.
The Predators' leadership also highlighted the broader significance of the appointment. COO and governor Joe Birch congratulated DeKort, noting that his experience in the Ontario Hockey League would bring valuable perspective to the club's development pathways.
DeKort's playing background adds another layer to his coaching credentials. He spent four seasons in the OHL from 2011 to 2015, two of which were with the Kitchener Rangers, giving him firsthand insight into the challenges faced by today's prospects.
Christian Kirsch, a San Jose Sharks prospect, recently credited DeKort for accelerating his own development, describing the coach as "instrumental" in refining his technique and mental approach. Similarly, Jackson Parsons, the 2025 OHL and CHL Goalie of the Year prospect, expressed enthusiasm about working under DeKort's guidance as he prepares for the next stage of his career.
The move underscores the Predators' commitment to building a robust goaltending pipeline that bridges North American and European talent. By integrating DeKort's video‑analysis expertise with hands‑on coaching, the organization aims to produce more consistent performances at the affiliate level.
Looking Ahead
DeKort said he is grateful for his years in Kitchener and excited to contribute to the Predators' ambitious growth plan. "I look forward to collaborating with the talented group of goalies in Milwaukee and Atlanta, and to helping the Predators continue to develop elite talent," he remarked.
