Annual Book Sale Brings Community Together
The Negaunee Friends of the Library kicked off its annual book sale on Thursday, transforming the Negaunee Nursing Home into a bustling marketplace of ideas and stories.
The sale, which has been running for more than 20 years, opened its doors from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., inviting residents to browse a curated collection of donated titles.
Students and Athletes Lend a Hand
Local football players joined forces with over 30 high school students, each shouldering hundreds of pounds of books to ready the shelves for the public.
Coach Jeff Niemi, head of the Negaunee football program, took the opportunity to commend his team for stepping beyond the gridiron to serve the community.
‘Seeing my players take pride in helping the library reminds me that leadership extends far beyond the field,’ Niemi said, highlighting the spirit of volunteerism that defines the event.
Supporting the Library’s Future
Proceeds from the book sale flow directly back into the Negaunee Public Library, funding new projects, events and programs that enrich the town’s cultural life.
The library, a cornerstone of the community, relies on such collaborations to sustain its mission of providing free access to knowledge and learning opportunities for all residents.
