Two former Columbia College basketball standouts have turned a modest idea into a summer staple for young players across mid‑Missouri. Jackson Dubinski and Hank Mathews launched the Elite Skills Camp seven years ago with the goal of giving youth a solid foundation in the game and a pathway to travel or high school teams.
Roots in College Days
Both men graduated from Columbia College and remained in the area, staying connected to the sport and the friendships forged on campus. The camaraderie they experienced as teammates shaped the way they now mentor younger athletes, emphasizing teamwork and personal growth over pure competition.
A Community‑First Philosophy
The camp’s mission extends beyond skill development; it seeks to give back to the community that supported the duo during their college years. By offering structured training and mentorship, Dubinski and Mathews hope to keep local families engaged with basketball and to nurture the next generation of players and fans.
Looking Ahead
Organizers are already planning the next iteration of the camp, aiming to bring it back for another season next summer. With growing interest from families and local schools, the founders see an opportunity to broaden the program’s reach while maintaining the personal touch that has defined its success.
