Tippecanoe Football Team Shines at MVL Showcase Amid Streamlined Scouting Process

College coaches converge on Tipp Park to evaluate prospects, highlighting standout performances and future pathways

The Tippecanoe football program marked its fifth straight appearance at the Midwest Valley League Football Showcase, an event that has become a cornerstone for aspiring college athletes in the region.

This year the showcase was streamlined, with college coaches traveling to a handful of schools rather than a full slate, allowing them to focus their attention on a select group of prospects.

Morning workouts kicked off at Tipp Park, where the team ran drills before moving on to stops at Piqua, Sidney and Greenville; notably, Troy opted out of the circuit this season.

Coach’s Perspective on Opportunity

Head coach Matt Burgbacher underscored the showcase’s role as a launchpad for players dreaming of college football, noting that several alumni have already earned spots on Division I rosters.

Among the standout performers were Larkin Thomas, Cade Havill, Ryan Kolb, Cal Connors and Raiden Nichols, each drawing the eyes of Division I recruiters who were on hand to evaluate talent in an open‑air setting.

The outdoor venue gave coaches a clear view of athletes’ natural athleticism, a factor that Burgbacher believes cannot be replicated in indoor drills.

The team has been preparing since December, building confidence and refining techniques in anticipation of not only the showcase but also upcoming camps that could shape their next steps.
