Jack Driscoll, a former offensive lineman who won Super Bowl LIX with the Philadelphia Eagles, came back to his hometown of Madison, Connecticut, to run a free football camp for roughly one hundred children.
A camp rooted in community
The third edition of the camp took place at Harold Strong Field, a modest high‑school stadium that has become a gathering point for the town’s youth.
Driscoll, who also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, used his NFL experience to guide the campers through drills, technique work and mini‑games designed to sharpen both skill and confidence.
More than just football
Beyond the on‑field work, the former Steeler emphasized the importance of hard work, perseverance and staying true to one’s roots, reminding the kids that a small town does not limit ambition.
After the drills, the players joined Driscoll for a round of push‑ups, a light‑hearted moment that underscored the camp’s inclusive spirit.
The event concluded with a casual feast of pizza from Sally’s Apizza and treats from the Ice Cream Emergency truck, a nod to local favorites.
A busy vacation week
Despite sweltering heat and the busy travel period following the Fourth of July, Driscoll said he was pleased with the turnout, noting that the community’s enthusiasm made the effort worthwhile.
