The Brown Bears concluded their campaign with a 7-5 loss to Yale in the Ivy League Tournament finals, ending a season that delivered the program’s fifth 23-win campaign and tied for fourth-most victories in school history.
Earlier in the day, the Bears had secured their spot in the championship by defeating Columbia 4-2, taking a 4-0 lead into the ninth inning before holding on for the win.
Drew Nelson was the anchor of the pitching staff, delivering eight shutout innings against Columbia with six hits allowed and no walks, while Christian Keel recorded the final out to seal the victory.
In the title game, Brown struck first with a 3-0 lead, but Yale’s offense answered with a rally that turned the tide, ultimately outscoring the Bears 7-5.
Camren Piwnicki contributed a career-high 6.1 innings of relief against Yale, surrendering three runs on six hits, while Mark Henshon, Logan Meusy, Mika Petersen, DJ Dillehay, Alex Benevento, Jack Edmunds, Brandon Chang, Christian Butera, Andrew Hanlon and Matt Luigs each saw action in the contest.
Looking Ahead
Though the season ended short of the ultimate prize, the Bears’ blend of veteran leadership and emerging talent suggests a promising future, and the program will look to build on the momentum generated by standout performances from Drew Nelson and the entire pitching staff.
