Indiana University’s men’s basketball program is entering a season loaded with anticipation, riding the momentum of its football team’s recent national championship.
A New Era for Indiana Basketball
Coach Darien DeVries, hired alongside Big Ten peers Ben McCollum and Niko Medved, says the goal is to assemble a roster capable of competing at the highest level.
The roster will feature newcomers such as Samet Yigitoglu, Markus Burton, Bryce Lindsay, Darren Harris and Jaeden Mustaf, each of whom brings a distinct skill set to the lineup.
In addition to domestic exhibition games against North Carolina and Western Kentucky in October, the team will test its mettle at the 2026 FISU Games in Lima, Peru, a tournament that could provide a barometer for future Big Ten play.
Although analysts have not placed the Hoosiers in the top six of preseason projections, DeVries points to his track record of success at previous stops and the chemistry developing among the new pieces as reasons for optimism.
The upcoming schedule also includes an effort to lock in one more headline nonconference opponent before the Big Ten gauntlet begins, underscoring the program’s intent to make a statement early.
