The Juneau‑Douglas High School Crimson Bears baseball squad completed a three‑game sweep of Ketchikan High School, posting scores of 9‑0 on Friday, 9‑5 on Saturday and 4‑3 in the nightcap.

Senior Madden Mendoza led the offense with three runs batted in on Friday, while sophomore Micah Nelson contributed two RBIs. Nate Fick and Charlie Begenyi each collected two hits, helping the Bears build a solid lead early in the series.

On the mound, Hunter Carte was dominant in the opener, pitching five innings, allowing just four hits, walking two batters and striking out five. The pitching staff continued to excel in the later games, with Marcus Mendoza, Nate Fick and freshman Isaac Kirsch sharing duties on Saturday.

Regional tournament awaits

The Southeast Conference Region V tournament will be played at Adair‑Kennedy Memorial Park field from May 28‑30, and the winner will advance to the Division I state tournament in Anchorage scheduled for June 4‑6.
