The Boston Bruins announced Tuesday that they have signed forward Riley Duran to a one-year, two-way contract, a deal that carries an NHL salary cap hit of $850,000 and runs through the 2026-27 season.
A Strategic Addition to the Roster
Duran, a 24-year-old native of Woburn, Massachusetts, comes off a season in which he posted a career-high 19 points for the Providence Bruins, the team’s AHL affiliate, after appearing in 72 games and contributing seven goals and 12 assists.
The forward’s professional journey began with a modest NHL debut on April 10, 2025, when he stepped onto the ice for Boston in two games, and he has since accumulated 143 AHL appearances, tallying 21 goals and 18 assists for a total of 39 points.
Prior to turning pro, Duran played college hockey at Providence, where he recorded 55 points in 102 games between 2021 and 2024, and he also represented the United States at the World Junior Championships, scoring five points in five games during the 2021-22 tournament.
Roster Revamp and Future Outlook
His return to the organization coincides with a broader reshaping of the Bruins’ AHL roster, a move that also brings back another draft-produced forward, Dans Locmelis, to the Providence lineup.
The contract provides the Bruins with a cost-effective option that can be toggled between the NHL and AHL, giving the coaching staff flexibility as they evaluate depth options ahead of the upcoming season. General manager Don Sweeney has emphasized the value of retaining home-grown talent, and Duran’s continued development is seen as a key piece of that strategy.
Fans can expect to see Duran battling for a roster spot during training camp, and his presence adds a familiar New England flavor to a team that has historically prized local roots. The move also underscores the club’s commitment to nurturing players who have risen through the ranks of the organization.
