Harvard University’s men’s ice hockey program has unveiled the six athletes who will join the squad as part of the Class of 2030, marking the next chapter in the team’s pursuit of national relevance.
A blend of experience and ambition
The incoming group comprises four forwards, one defenseman and a goaltender, each bringing a distinct blend of junior success and professional exposure. Their combined résumé includes multiple QMJHL championships and three selections in recent NHL drafts, underscoring the caliber of talent arriving in Cambridge.
Among the newcomers, Niles Benson, a right wing from Tampa, Florida, adds a championship pedigree from his time with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, while Rudy Guimond, a Quebec‑born goaltender drafted by the Detroit Red Wings, brings a standout performance at the Taft School and a proven record in high‑pressure situations.
Justin Graf, a forward hailing from Lincoln, Massachusetts, combines experience in both the USHL and the competitive NEPSAC circuit, whereas Alex Huang, a defenseman from Rosemère, Québec, was selected by the Nashville Predators after a strong showing in the QMJHL. Eli Heinze, a Californian who earned New England Hockey Journal’s NCDC Player of the Year honors, and Joseph Salandra, a New York‑based wing from the Brunswick School, round out a diverse and skilled cohort.
Coach Rob Rassey expressed confidence that the class will not only reinforce the team’s depth but also elevate the program’s competitive edge in the ECAC Hockey league. With a mixture of seasoned junior experience and fresh talent, the Crimson looks poised to contend for its first championship in decades.
