Brainerd Legion Endures Three-Game Skid

Recent losses to Monticello and Excelsior test the team’s resolve

The Brainerd Legion baseball team has encountered a challenging stretch, dropping three straight contests as the summer schedule intensifies.

Loss to Monticello

On July 6, the squad fell 8-4 to Monticello, a game that saw the Legion rally late but ultimately fall short. Contributions at the plate came from Rylan Amundson, Braxton Tautges, Gus Lund, Tydan Guida and Liam Becker, each recording a hit.

Doubleheader Versus Excelsior

The following day, Brainerd entered a doubleheader against Excelsior, dropping both games. In the opener, a 7-1 defeat, the Legion managed only a handful of hits, with Kashius Caughey, Liam Becker and Tydan Guida each logging a single.

The nightcap ended in a 5-2 loss, where Michael Hagelie contributed two hits, but the team could not convert them into runs.

The consecutive defeats underscore the competitive nature of the league and the need for the Legion to adjust its approach as the season progresses.
