A New Era for Michigan Basketball
Quinn Costello, a 6‑foot‑10 freshman forward and four‑star recruit, has announced that he will remain with the Michigan Wolverines for the upcoming season, turning down external opportunities despite the recent upheaval on the coaching staff.
The departure of head coach Dusty May to an assistant position with the NBA's Dallas Mavericks left a significant vacancy, but the program quickly appointed former assistant Mike Boynton Jr. as interim head coach, promising continuity and stability for the roster.
Training Focus and Versatility
During the offseason, Costello has been working closely with trainer Mitchell Kirsch to sharpen his perimeter defense and lateral quickness, preparing to guard smaller, quicker guards while embracing a positionless role that allows him to slide between forward and guard.
Coach Boynton emphasized that Costello’s ability to switch on multiple positions will be a cornerstone of Michigan’s strategy, as the team looks to defend its national title and navigate a challenging schedule.
