Summer League Highlights
The NBA Summer League in Las Vegas has become a proving ground for recent college standouts, and this year several former University of North Carolina standouts are among the participants drawing attention.
RJ Davis, now with the San Antonio Spurs, has shown a marked improvement, averaging 11.7 points, 2.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds over three games. Despite his efforts the Spurs dropped all three contests in Salt Lake City, but the performances suggest a promising trajectory.
Henri Veesaar, representing the Atlanta Hawks, contributed 6.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, and the Hawks posted a 2‑1 record in the Utah tournament, highlighting his steady development.
Drake Powell’s two‑game stint with the Brooklyn Nets yielded 3.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, one assist and a steal, though the Nets fell to a 1‑2 record in Sacramento, underscoring both the challenges and the flashes of potential.
Cormac Ryan delivered a standout moment with 13 points for the Milwaukee Bucks, a performance that helped the Bucks secure a victory in Salt Lake City and added depth to his summer league résumé.
The mixed results across teams set the stage for the upcoming debut of Caleb Wilson, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls, who is slated to make his Summer League appearance soon.
