A Homecoming for a New Coach
Kate Caruso, a former standout player and longtime assistant, has been named the new head coach of the Wildwood Catholic girls basketball team, stepping into the role after Steve DiPatri's unexpected resignation.
Caruso’s connection to the program runs deep; she once led the Crusaders to a historic South Jersey championship in 1984 and has since served under Fran St. John and DiPatri, absorbing decades of winning culture.
Legacy Meets New Challenges
The transition comes with a roster that remains a work in progress, but Caruso is undeterred, emphasizing the importance of building a winning environment from the ground up with the support of her staff and the school community.
Her vision includes reviving the traditions that defined earlier eras, drawing on the achievements of her sister Kelly Caruso, also a Hall of Fame inductee, and the broader Caruso family’s basketball pedigree.

With the backing of Wildwood Catholic Academy and local partners, Caruso hopes to bring back the good old days, fostering a culture that celebrates excellence both on and off the court.
