Cornell University's women's soccer program announced that seven new student‑athletes will join the roster for the upcoming 2026 season, expanding the squad with a blend of domestic talent and international experience.
The incoming class comprises two goalkeepers, two defenders and three forwards, each hailing from five different states across the United States, a geographic spread that reflects the program's nationwide recruiting reach.
A diverse recruiting class
Among the newcomers, Ellie Gudusky from New Hope, Pennsylvania, arrives as the state's second‑ranked goalkeeper, while Sofia Kerrigan, a California native who trained with Marin FC ECNL, brings club experience that includes a national championship with her side. The forward line will feature Sofía Menéndez of Houston, Texas, a recent Pichichi Trophy winner from Madrid, adding a global flair to the attack.
Defensive additions include Ella Pfeiffer, a Camarillo, California defender who captured the 2025 ECNL National Championship with her club, and Camryn Savig, a Granite Bay, California player who captained her high school team and earned multiple All‑League honors. Midfield and forward options also feature Dylan Steinberg from Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, a 2024 ECNL National Championship winner, and Hayes Wheeler of Fairfield, Connecticut, an All‑State selection and team captain.
Coach Rob Ferguson highlighted the mix of skill sets and the competitive drive each recruit brings, noting that the group's diverse backgrounds will enrich the team's tactical flexibility and depth as they prepare for the next chapter.
The announcement underscores Cornell's commitment to building a program that competes at the highest level, blending local talent with athletes who have excelled on regional and international stages.
