Mario Trivella, a versatile infielder from Venezuela, has officially committed to the University of Tennessee baseball program, adding a proven bat and defensive skill set to the Volunteers' roster.
A Productive Junior Campaign
During his junior season at Florida International University he posted a .287/.384/.580 slash line, hit 15 home runs and drove in 50 runs, starting 49 games for a team that finished 19‑35.
A Full‑Circle College Journey
Trivella began his collegiate career at State College of Florida, where he hit nine home runs and recorded 54 RBIs, before transferring to FIU and emerging as a power threat.
Eligibility and Future Impact
Thanks to recent NCAA eligibility reforms, the Venezuelan native will retain two years of athletic eligibility, giving the Volunteers a reliable middle‑infielder for the next two seasons.
His addition comes as Tennessee has attracted a wave of transfer infielders, including Wyatt Hanoian, Chris Ramirez and Travis Sanders, marking the 11th transfer commitment for the program this offseason.
Overall, 18 Tennessee players have entered the transfer portal, while several others have announced plans to return for another year, underscoring a dynamic roster reshaping.
Coaches have highlighted the value of experienced transfers who can contribute immediately, and Trivella’s track record suggests he will be a key piece of the Volunteers’ offensive lineup.
